No Children's Museum in Sugar Land This Summer

Just in case you were thinking ahead to summer and heading out to the Children's Museum of Houston's temporary summer satellite location at Sugar Land Town Square ... you'll be taking the kids to Charming Charlie instead. According to a museum spokesman, there will be no Sugar Land satellite this year because of the Houston museum's big expansion, which they unveiled recently.

I know. It stinks. It was nice to have a place where the kids could cool off and learn something over the summer. But don't despair. There is plenty of learning to be done at Charming Charlie over the summer. Here is proposed lesson plan for the kids:

Preschool: Name all the colors represented at Charming Charlie. (Caution: Do not let your child stare directly at any bling or they may be blinded for life.)
Elementary School: Add up mom's total cost for the 20 items she is carrying to the counter and then promptly forget it because we are not telling daddy!
Middle School: Add up mom's total cost for the 20 items she is carrying to the counter and subtract $5 for every time you rolled your eyes because you think your mom is horribly embarrassing for wearing so much bling. That is mom's new total which we can tell daddy.
High School: Add up mom's total cost for the 20 items she is carrying to the counter and, if you are a girl, add to it the 20 items you are wanting and then immediately put back the 20 items you are wanting because you are so paying for those yourself and, of course, you spent all of your money from babysitting already so you will probably be sneaking into mom's closet to "borrow" the cool stuff she bought.

Lesson learned: Don't bring your kids to Charming Charlie.
